(I'm something of a mid-late tribber myself. I had written Tim that even if the rapture is a post trib event, that my opinion was that the timing is so unknown, that the deceptive side of the modern UFO craze has to do with Satan "covering his bases" whenever it occurs!)

Thanks. Obviously, since I am post-trib, I do not believe there will be any mass disappearance of people prior to the end of the tribulation. I believe that the "pre-trib" rapture view is also a deception that is being used to set up Evangelical Christians.

I do, however, believe there are going to be two mass invasions, apparently from "outer space."

Rev 12:7-11
7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Notice the means to overcome these invaders is "by the blood of the Lamb." That is why the Name of "Jesus" is effective against stopping abductions.

Dan 2:43
43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

I don't think the UFO phenomenon is for the purpose of explaining a "rapture," but to explain the invasion, and disguise the demonic hordes as "space brothers." They will arrive in order to warn and prepare the world to resist another "invasion," Jesus Christ and the "armies of heaven" [Rev. 19]. It is interresting that the Antichrist will actually convince the world powers to converge on Jerusalem for the expressed purpose of stopping the "invasion" of Jesus Christ and the armies of heaven.

Rev 16:13-16
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

What we have here is a massing of forces to stop an invasion from outer space. Christians will be seen as traitors, who have conspired with this invading force to overthrow the world, and surrender it to this invading army. That is one of the reasons we will be persecuted and hunted down.

At the mid-point of the tribulation, when Satan and his "angels" are cast out of the heavens [atmosphere], this will be portrayed as a mass landing of alien craft, whose purpose is to prepare mankind, their "space brothers," for an invasion of another "evil" alien army who is coming to overthrow the world and seize total control. [Sort of like the "Borg" on Star Trek - complete with their cube shaped craft (New Jerusalem)]. Christ is coming back with His angelic army, and will seize control, and overthrow the kingdoms of this world. As Christians, we are indeed "traitors" to this world system. We are indeed the "enemy," and we have indeed conspired with the "invading army" so we can have a comfortable place in the new "Empire." So, in essence, the "lie" will be the truth! It is just a matter of perspective, and who are the "good guys" and who are the "bad guys." Unfortunately, the world will be convinced that the "grays" are the "good guys," and will follow like sheep to the slaughter.
